Visa Regulations

Students can easily get their student visas if they wish to come and study in India. Most of the educational institutions are officially recognized by the Government of India. There are courses on Yoga, Vedic Culture, and the Indian system of dance and music as well. Students can choose any course in any field of their choice.

The main document that a student will require is admission or registration papers from the chosen institution.

Eligibility

Overseas students can avail of a student visa for a duration of five years or till the time of your course. Following students can get a visa under Study India Scholarships:

  • International students who want to pursue their higher studies or regular and full-time academic courses in India.
  • Overseas students who want to take up industrial training, part of a summer project, or an internship.
  • Provisional students visa are valid for a period of six months if the students are exploring admission or taking admission tests.
  • Students need to have proof of admission to a full-time academic course. It must be from a reputed or recognized educational organization. They need to present evidence of financial support.
  • Candidates must also attain a “No Objection Certificate” from the Ministry of Health if they are seeking admission in medical or Para-medical courses.
  • If the spouse or a dependent family member is accompanying the student, they must apply for an Entry visa.

Validity

Generally, students get their visas for a duration of 5 years. It also depends on the duration of your course. You can apply for the period extension per your requirements.

Entry Points

Passengers who own a valid student visa can choose to enter India from the port of immigration check post that they desire.

Fee for Student Visas:

Students have to pay a visa fee but it is different for students of different countries. It varies from $13 to $118

FRRO

Registration Requirements For Foreign National

Registration is required for

Every international person who is visiting on a student visa(s) even if they are flying in for pursuing the course for Yoga, Vedic Culture, The Indian system of Dance and Music. Research Visa, Medical Visa or Medical attendant Visa and Employment Visa that is valid for 180+ days will have to get himself/herself registered with the related FRRO. They have to get this done within 14 days of his/her first arrival, irrespective of the duration of his / her stay.

If an overseas person is visiting India under some other categories of long-term Visa that includes Business/Entry(X) / Journalist Visa,  then the person will not require to register with FRRO if their duration of stay goes above 180 days. If a foreigner wishes to stay for more than 180 days on a single visit he/she should get registered well before the expiry of 180 days to avoid any issues afterward. If they have a tourist visa, they are required to register only if they enter again within 60 days of their departure since the last visit. They will be asked to get registered via special endorsements.

Kids below the age of 16 are exempted from this registration if enter on a PIO card or on any type of visa, except where there are specific terms. It is compulsory for all international travelers to personally appear at the concerned FRRO office to get any visa-related services or help.

Late Registration

Foreigners do not have to pay any fees for registration but if someone has delayed registration and if a delay is condoned that they are charged with a USD $30 as a penalty.

Over Stay

If there is any incident of overstay, then the concerned person is liable for prosecution under The Foreigners Act 1946. They can even be imprisoned for 5 years with some fines and expulsion from Indian territories.

Report of absence from Registered address

If a foreigner decides to move from the given registered address for a stipulated period of eight weeks or more then the concerned person must inform an authorized representative or an officer of their intention.

In case of a return, the foreigner will have to inform the Registration Officer of the date of return and the same is the procedure if you decide to move away, inform the change of address. Any changes made subsequently should also be intimated to the Registration Officer. Every foreigner, who has a stay of more than eight weeks at any place in any district other than the district in which his / her registered address is situated, will have to inform the Registration Officer of that district of his / her presence. This can be made in writing and the requirements are deemed to have been fulfilled if, before entering India, a foreigner furnishes to the Registration Officer of the said district intimating the dates of his arrival and departure dates from the district.

Change in Registered Address

An international person’s address will only be acceptable if he/she changes their residence from one place to another in the country. If you have no residence, you will leave your registered address knowing that you are less likely to come back within 6 months of your departure.

Surrender of Certificates of Registration on departure

Every overseas person who is likely to leave India must surrender his/her certificate of registration either to the Registration Officer of the concerned place or to the Immigration Officer at the Port/Check post of exit. You will get a receipt which will show such surrender of the document may be obtained and shown to the concerned officer at the time of your final departure.

Duplicate Certificate of Registration

If you have lost the certificate of Registration, issued under existing Acts / Rules,  will have to make or send to the Registration Officer of the district of his registered address a report of circumstances. In this, you will include, which was so lost or destroyed along with an application in writing and a copy of the police report in order to issue a duplicate copy of the certificate of registration.

English Proficiency

The medium of instruction in Indian universities/colleges would be English. Students need to have a functional knowledge of the language. They must be able to read, write and speak English.

Eligibility criteria and Qualification – SAT Score/Highest Degree Score

This criterion will be based on the institute. Students are requested to do a candidate login and select the courses of their choice. They will also have to choose from the displayed colleges as they have their own separate eligibility and qualification criterion.
