Local Travel

Around 70 million people use public transport in India to commute. The local traveling system is one of the cheapest transportation in Asia and the world. It includes auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, e-rickshaws, buses, taxis, trams, and local/metro trains, in almost all metropolitan/big cities in India. Carts, carriages, auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, and buses are more popular as one starts traveling farther from the city areas.

  • Rickshaws

This is one of the cheapest and easily accessible public transport that students use in India. Auto-rickshaws are used in almost every place and are like the Asian tuk-tuks. Even prominent transportation companies like Ola and Uber also have this as a mode of transportation. You can use auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, e-rickshaws as these come at a very affordable cost.

  • Buses

These are also very accessible transport within cities and across villages. To commute on the local RTC buses, be sure you have a bus pass, which can be secured by providing a copy of your student ID card. You can travel anywhere around the city or town by just using this pass! While the distance may seem long, but they are quite fun with friends.

  • Taxis

This is the best option to choose from if you have to hurry, you can find cabs anytime you want. Uber and Ola also have a bike, auto, and cab services for traveling intercity or intracity. It is comparatively more expensive than other modes.

  • Trains

If you wish to avoid heavy traffic and rush, the metro train is the best suitable option. Some cities are entirely connected by metro trains. It is best to have a MetroCard if your city has metro rail services as it will ease your travel.
