Apt budget allocation is one of the important parameters of studying abroad. When students make up their minds and move to another country to pursue higher education, budgeting comes into play right away. This is because while studying, students usually have a limited budget in hand. Therefore, planning and creating a student budget gives clarity about expenses, amount allocation and most importantly, saving for unplanned expenses that may arise in future. The question is, what all expenses do students need to consider while curating their budget?

In student life, main expenses revolve around education costs, travel cost and other miscellaneous expenses. While education costs may be further divided into admission fees, tuition fees and educational supplies, travel expenses would usually include visa permits, airfare, day-to-day travelling (if any). However, the major costs include accommodation, food, transport, and other personal day-to-day expenses. In a nutshell, students have a lot to take care of when it comes to managing their expenses. Under such situations, affordability is a factor that acts in favour of students. Therefore, the students coming to study in India are at an advantage because of affordable living costs. Whether it is travelling, eating or personal expenses, with thoughtful budget planning, students can live without having to spend too much in India.

Moreover, the students getting associated with the Study in India Programme have the opportunity to avail financial assistance in the form of tuition fee waiver that helps them to manage their expenses in a better way. Fee waivers only cover the tuition fees. To know more, click on fee waivers. The students are advised to curate their budget, keeping in mind the financial help enabled through fee waiver. In addition to this step, they are recommended to include some smart tips to save money and avoid any kind of cash crunch as well. Having a roughly mapped budget in advance makes the students conscious of unnecessary expenses and brings financial stability throughout their student life. Lastly, the students coming to study in India must know this fact that a smartly planned budget is synonymous with fun college life, especially in an affordable country like India.

Once the students have registered themselves with Study in India, the next step is completing the application and submitting it. The process of application filling is the most significant step as the students are required to fill in their preferences in disciplines, institutes and courses. While filling the preferences, students are recommended to do thorough research about institute rankings, fee structure, facilities, etc. before arriving at the final decision. To begin the application filling process, students need to first log in to the Student Dashboard (on the Study in India website) with the credentials provided at the time of registration. The application is divided into three sections, namely- Basic InformationAcademic Information and Student Choice Filling. Once the students fill in all the details and provide necessary documents across the three sections, they may proceed to the process of final submission.

BASIC INFORMATION

In the first section, students are required to fill in simple yet important details such as official name, contact number, address. Please note that all the details provided by the students in this section should be correct and must be the same as mentioned in their passports or government IDs.

ACADEMIC INFORMATION

In the next section, students need to provide the details of their academic qualification and additional exam (like IELTS, SAT, etc). In addition to these details, they need to upload scanned copies of their qualification documents, photo, and signature.

CHOICE FILLING

Lastly, students are required to fill in their preferences. This step needs to be done with the utmost attention and according to past qualifications and interests.

The higher education institutes of India offer a diverse range of courses across many disciplines. The host of courses provided in these institutes cater to diverse interest areas of students. Therefore, to choose the course of their liking and to study in their dream college, students need to fill in the right choices. Finally, students need to set the preferences of their choices filled, for example, if they want to pursue B.Tech in Computer Science at a public institute with low fees, they are required to make it as their first preference. Additionally, students should make sure to apply to as many institutes as possible to increase their chances of getting their desired course and finally submit the application before the closing date. Please note that the final allocation of course and institute is done on the basis of choices filled by the student, so they must be cautious while providing all the details across this section.

After the students have curated a student budget, filled in the basic and background information and submitted their application after completing the choice filling, they get a step closer to pursuing higher education in top-notch Indian institutes, students need to wait for the result declaration to know about the allotted institute and course. Therefore, they are advised to regularly check their student dashboard and email IDs for any notification or update. The result contains essential information such as the Allotted Institute, Discipline, Qualification, Program Level, Specialization, Fee Waivers and Institute Action Status. It also provides information about the financial assistance (Fee Waiver) awarded to students. Please note that the allocations mentioned in the result are entirely based on merit (and choice priority) of the students.

After the institute allocation or result declaration, the applications of provisionally shortlisted students are automatically forwarded to the Study in India partner institutes for review and verification. Until the partner institutes review the applications, the ‘Institute Action Status’ will be pending. The students will be notified whether the concerned institute has accepted them or not. Further, if the allocated institutes accept the students, the offer letters will be uploaded on the Student Dashboard, confirming their admission. Then comes an important step – accepting or rejecting the offer letter. The students should carefully go through the offer letters before arriving at any decision. While accepting the same, they must keep in mind to take note of necessary details like the type of financial assistance granted, the fee structure of the concerned course, the last date of confirming admission, the start date of classes, etc.

In a nutshell, the students can turn their dream of studying abroad by simply accepting the offer letter sent by the renowned Indian institutes. The partner institutes of the Study in India Programme await young minds for nurturing. Not only this, the inclusive learning imparted in the Indian institute leads to the holistic development of the students coming to study here.

As and when the students accept the offer letter presented by the institute of their choice, they are advised to start preparations for their departure to India. It is undeniable that leaving home and travelling to a new country comes with its challenges, but the students coming to study in India need not worry. Not only will they come across a smooth immigration and onboarding process, but their stay during the entire course duration will also be a joyful and enriching experience. As said in the popular quote, ‘the sooner, the better’, the students are recommended to follow the same while preparing for departure. Whether applying for a student visa, booking flight tickets, organising necessary things well in advance works in favour of the students.

For ease, they are advised to book the tickets from their home country to the city where the allotted institute is situated. While doing so students can connect with other students travelling to India from their country and book the flight tickets in groups to avail additional discounts. Once students book their tickets, they are suggested to prepare a comprehensive packing list of all the necessary things they would require while staying in India. The necessities include travel documents (passport, visa, national ID proof, etc), vaccination certificate, original academic documents, electronic devices, and toiletries. Most importantly, before packing, students are recommended to check the weight limits of their respective flights and pack the luggage accordingly to avoid any last-minute hassle. Moreover, while packing the clothes, students should consider two points, the first being prevalent climatic conditions and the second, if formal clothing is required in their allotted institutes/courses. Last but not least inform their respective institutes about their travel schedules beforehand.

Pack your bags and be ready for an enriching learning experience in India.
