When you get your final letter of admission, you will have to apply for an Indian Student Visa. Indian Missions/Posts under the Government of India will give the Indian Student Visa to International students who are qualified under:
– Regular and full-time, fully structured courses at esteemed and recognized institutes by the statutory regulatory body in India.
– Short-term courses and other student exchange programs.
The Indian Research Visa is given to scholars who will pursue research at a recognized Indian institute.
Validity of the Visa
Student Visa is given to a student for a maximum period of 5 years, or for the duration of the chosen course, whichever is lesser and suits the situation.
On the other hand, a Research Visa is given to a scholar for a maximum duration of 3 years, or for the period of the research project, whichever is earlier.
If you choose to switch courses, the validity period of the visa will be taken from the first date of the issue of the visa
Fee for the Visa
The cost of processing your fees is approximately around $13. The fees will depend on the category under which the Student Visa is provided. It ranges from USD50 to USD150.
Applying for the Visa
– Students will have to fill out an online application form to apply for the visa.
– Submit your application with the mentioned documents at Indian Visa Application Center or at Indian Mission, anyone that you prefer.
– You can collect your passport/visa from the Indian Mission/Visa Application Center or by the Indian Post.
